Эти артиллерийские системы успешно применялись па полях сражений Первой мировой и Гражданской войн, а после их окончания составили основу легкой гаубичной артиллерии Красной Армии. Для поддержания их характеристик на требуемом уровне в межвоенное время они были модернизированы в 122-мм гаубицы обр. 1910/30 гг. и обр. 1909/37 гг. Примечательно, что проект их усовершенствования был выполнен В.Н. Сидоренко – офицером дореволюционной армии, перешедшим на службу Советской власти, одним из немногих по-настоящему компетентных специалистов в области разработки артиллерийских орудий в годы разрухи и первых пятилеток.
